Baby girl is destined to wear more than her fair share of hand-me-downs. But instead of making her wear them all dingy and sad I wanted to make them over into something I would actually want to put her in. I decided that the best and most inexpensive solution would be tea dye.
Tea dying is easy.. Here is how to:
1. Get your garment wet. {I just ran mine under some warm water and then wrung out the excess.}
2. Submerge your garment in a warm tea. {I just boiled water in a pot on the stove, added several Lipton tea packets, let simmer until my water turned a nice deep shade of brown and then let it cool down before adding the clothing.}
3. Let your garment sit until you get the color you desire. {Actually I let mine get a little darker to compensate for the rinse to follow.}
4. Rinse your garment until the water runs clear.
5. Dry in the drier to set the color.
Once I was finished with that process I added a rosette and some beads that I had laying around the house and made a matching rosette head band.
It was a simple, old fashioned project but I kind of love it. {And I always like the idea of giving something old new life again.}

Quarantine!
Tonight is going on three nights of quarantine for the Schmidt household! We are all going a little stir crazy... even Sutton's babies! Brian and Sutton have been passing a bug back and forth the last couple weeks. We think it is finally gone!! "Knock on wood".
As for Baby girl and I....{Week 38} two weeks and counting. My body is sore, I pee about 6 times a night, I wake up early and am restless. I can’t comfortably fit my belly into most of my maternity pants at this point, so it’s all about dresses for me.
Even with no sick babies I can't sleep... Baby girl was VERY active last night after I went to bed. She would not settle down for anything. Pushing, stretching, rolling, kicking, and I have no idea what she was trying to do with her hands! But there was SO MUCH pressure on my bladder that I got up FOUR times in ONE HOUR to pee. It was unreal. I couldn't stay in bed, no matter how much I tried to convince myself that my bladder was not full and did not need to be emptied. Our next Dr. check up is Thursday. I can't wait!!!
We're still stuck for baby names, though I think it's mainly me vetoing all suggestions crossing them off as too boring, too boyish, don't sound right, to many syllables, not strong enough... We have a growing list, but I'd like to narrow the list down to a least a feasible short list and pick one when we see her.

To my dear sweet Sutton Alice,
These last few years have been more than I ever could have dreamed. I still remember the moment I found out I was pregnant with you, and the first time I heard your heart beat, it still seems like just yesterday.
You have brought your daddy and me SO much joy and entertainment. When I think back on all the hours I spent praying, believing for you, it is such a testament of God's goodness and never understanding his plan, but trusting it anyway. When I look at you, I'm always reminded that God is with us, through it all.
And now, your life is about to change in a big way with the birth of your little sister. It's hard to believe it's already that time. I'll be honest - I'm a little nervous of this upcoming change, but like I said - I know God will be with us through this too. He is building our family in a way I never could have dreamed, and it's amazing to see his plans unfold before our eyes.
I know this will be a huge adjustment for us all, but I have faith you will be a wonderful big sister. You are so loving and caring, and I can't wait to see you interact with "Baby sister". You taught me how to be a mommy, and now I know you'll help me learn to be a mommy of two.
I am so proud of you and the silly, courageous, caring, expressive little lady you're becoming. You will never fully understand the love we have for you, but I hope you always feel it.
Things are about to get exciting, crazy, and who knows what...so I just wanted to write you a little note letting you know how special you are. I love you my Sutton Alice, and you'll always be my precious miracle baby. I'm excited to begin another adventure with you - the best little helper ever!
Love,
Mamma

Brand New... and too Small!
Baby Schmidt's closet... I know, I know it looks like a TON of clothes... and it is, but it is also sizes 0 to 12 months.
Sometime the cutest outfits end up in the back of the closet and before you know it your little one has outgrown it before even worn. These dividers allow you to organize your cloths by size, so you'll never overlook another darling ensemble.
To make the size dividers- I used wooden letter "O" from hobby lobby (come 2 in each pack), then modge podges scrapbook paper and the numbers/size to each or you could paint them. The size dividers slide right onto the cloths rack!
Enjoy!

Baby Schmidt 2.0 Month 8 & Pregnacy Quiz
Well my friends, can you believe we're approaching the end of the 8 month?! I know I sure can't believe I'm almost 35 weeks. Time has absolutely flown by and I'm just blown away when people ask me how much longer I have and I respond with "5 weeks?" like it's a question. And then I'm like, "holy crap - 5 weeks!!" and want to drop whatever I'm doing to rush home and try to get my house organized. But usually end up sitting on the couch eating my latest crave - triscuits and melted cheese with banana peppers... Yum!! Baby girl likes her spice!
Pregnancy wise? Still feeling great, sleeping well...have I mentioned I feel so blessed to have had such a great pregnancy?! Cause I do! As far as the little girl goes, she is extremely active and I feel her hiccup all the time...too cute!
What is next: At my 36 week check up Dr. Sam will check to see the position of her and if I've dilated.
How Far Along: 35 weeks
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Loss? You mean there are people who actually lose weight during pregnancy?? Umm, yeah...I've struggled with that. Let's just say this...I've gained way more than I'd like to, but I honestly don't care. It will come off one day, and it's all worth it!
Maternity Clothes: Yes, please! They are so comfy...I'm not sure I'll ever be able to go back to wearing a pair of jeans with an actual zipper and button on them. My new motto is, "I'm bringing stretchy back."
Best Moment this week: FINISHING a huge project at work!! Now off to the next one.
Gender: It's a Girl - Still working on her perfect Name.
Movement: I'll admit - I've been a little lazy lately on the weekends. But I do usually move at least twice a day from the bed to the couch. Oh wait - was this referring to the baby?
Food Craving: I'm convinced food craves me...There's pretty much nothing I won't/can't eat. I'm thankful I'm not nauseous, but the extra elll beees are adding up!
What I miss: I can tell you what I haven't missed - any chance to eat!
Sleep: Yes, please. I l-o-v-e bedtime. And naptime. And long rides in the car so I can nap. I am fortunate that I've been able to sleep so well (at least up to this point) in my pregnancy.
Belly Button: Eeew. It was tiny, but now it's just huge, popped out, and scaly. I don't think I like it and Sutton has told me she doesn't like it... she is so honest. It seriously looks creepy right now.
What I am looking forward to: Besides the obvious (dinner), meeting this little princess who's hanging out in my belly!
